LUCIEN FREUD at Kunsthistorisches Museum

The Kunsthistorisches Museum presents an exhibition of paintings by Lucian Freud (1922 – 2011) for the first time in Austria. The selection of works was made with the close personal involvement of Freud, during the months prior to his death in July 2011, and with his longtime assistant David Dawson.
The exhibition presents a survey of Lucien Freud’s entire working career, a period of almost 70 years, and includes many of his most important and well-known paintings. A specific intention of the exhibition is to explore Freud’s lifelong interest in historical art, and in sculpture dating back to Egyptian antiquity.
